Hello, I was wondering if someone has experience of testing an actuator/solenoid valve for leaks and what is normal for a good one.
I have a mk2 c5 1.6 hdi that has low vacuum and the wastegate is not closing as it should.
I have tested the actual wastegate a with a vacuum gauge and it closes correctly and does not leak.
I have checked the line from the turbo to the boost control valve which is good and the other side from the valve also no leaks.
The valve itself does appear to have a leak.
From what I have seen on youtube this leaking down of a vacuum should not happen on the valve and indicates a leaky seal.
I ordered a new vacuum boost solenoid and tested it and it behaves exactly like the one on the car with a leaking down of the vacuum.
Questions.
Have I been sent out a defective new valve or is this how they all behave.
It does not seem logical for the valve to hold a vacuum then leak, surely it will hold no vacuum or hold a good vacuum or is this wrong.
This is testing the valve with no power going to it.
Thanks for any help, Douglas.
