Xantia 110 hdi clutch/brake fluid

Would i be right in adding the latest spec Dot 5.1 fluid into the pot as over the years i have lost possibly up to 50ml plus dribbling very slowly onto the clutch pedal, or should i put in what was used when the car was new back in 2001 so would that be Dot 3 or 4 or does it not make no difference if i add 5.1, dont want to make matters worse by adding wrong Dot..

I don't think they are compatible.
Probably best to use what it says on the cap or in the handbook.

err doesn't an xantia use lhm for it's clutch/brake fluid?

110 is hydraulic clutch.
Brakes are hydropneumatic LHM as you say.

good to know, I've never had to fill a clutch on an xantia, but now I know it uses brake fluid.

Most Xantia are cable clutches. Just the 110 on the diesels is hydraulic. The petrols I don't know as I've never had any except my current one which is an auto.
