This has to be a growth area for repairs/recon. units.

It would be in many people's interest to get the whole shebang from A to B, even if was in easy stages, with longish stop-overs.

Indeed it would, at those sort of prices for replacements there just has to be some repairable aspects of the units. My thoughts are that the dealer's fitter is happier fitting a complete assembly as sold rather than getting their hands dirty & sweating over a possibly fiddly job like replacing seals/cleaning filters etc.

I've asked about the weight of the unit & if it's not too heavy then postage is something I might be able to pay, but if anyone's travels take them close enough then there is still tea & biscuits (maybe even cake lol).

Hi Guy's
I have probably asked this question before so bare with me. Can I switch off the stop start instead of manually switching it off when I start the car.????? I thought I might stick the push button down so it switched itself off but It might cause problems with the ecu.

No, afraid not. You can only disable it until the next time the car is started.

That's a bit of a pain. I bet that a really determined person could create a work-around by wiring in a separate, non CAN switching/supply circuit for the brake lights & disabling the original brake switch. (IGN fused live to brake light bulb holders, earth wire run back up the floor to a new brake switch with the second wire earthed under the dash was my thoughts) it'd probably create a fault code for the switch malfunction but only other thing I can see it affecting is cruise control if fitted. Another thought is there'd likely be warnings about brake light bulb failure?

Obviously this is a theory, and a horrendous bodge at that IMHO. But if somebody was really determined to disable stop/start for good, and the car not "seeing" a brake switch didn't throw all sorts of other things out, that would be one potential way round it.

The earlier system I believe that was used by PSA included capacitors to store the reclaimed energy using a reversible alternator - so as not to wear the starter unduly - but at over £1000 a pop for one of these, I believe the newer vehicles reverted back to the starter for the STOP START function. Of course, the system is linked to various other systems to ensure that it only operates under certain conditions - Seat Belt system, Electronic Parking Brake, Air Conditioning System, temperature, battery condition etc. - so I really wouldn't suggest upsetting anything until any shares you may own have at least quadrupled in value :-D

Go back far enough & spheres weren't considered servicable.

Hi Guy's
I am so f . k at the moment. As you all know I have just paid Citroen Doncaster 2k+ for my gearbox repair only weeks ago, and so as not to make my wonderful wife to unhappy I got out a credit card to take her on our holiday's to Spain and then to Guerande in France to see my sister. Well the long and short of it is on our way to a funeral Friday the bloody gear box went again leaving me no gears and half way round a bloody roundabout. You all know where I am going on Monday morning. :x :x :x

Really bad news - I would contact Citroen Head Office and tell them of your utter dissatisfaction and huge cost in supposedly fixing this - sometimes they will contact the dealer and discuss it with them. The inconvenience and danger of this happening on a roundabout will play on the seriousness and health & safety aspect of the incident (and you really need to emphasise this part). Keep a record of everything that is said, times and dates etc., and names of individuals.

They need a chance to rectify the situation assuming it is directly related to the work they did and not another issue (although given what was replaced last time, you'd expect the whole thing to be perfect). If you are not satisfied with the outcome, then go back to Citroen Head Office. Let us know the outcome on Monday after you've been in touch.

Well here I am again.
Took car back to Citroen and told them what had happened to the gear box on Friday and the manager said he would put it on the computer to look for any faults, and guess what ,no faults showing up so he did a complete reset of the gearbox and clutch for me . I am very pleased with the outcome , the car once again is super smooth and all seems to be ok, for now. I have taken out a 2k credit card and intend to have my holiday in Spain and France. I am now going to start and plan my route and have a look at some hotels on the route.
Thank you Citroen once again.

Hi, I did get your text re the actuator bits the other day but with one thing & another it completely slipped my mind till I saw the text again earlier :(

My memory is about the first thing to suffer when things get hectic, and hectic they have been! If you've still got the bits hopefully we can work something out around a day out in Matlock before you go away. Fingers crossed they have fixed it once & for all this time!

Hi ekjdm14
I thought you may have gone on your hols. Leave it a couple of weeks and then we can arrange to meet up one Sunday at Matlock. Sorry yes I still have the parts all boxed up.

Well here we are again and 85k on the clock and I am pleased to say that my 2011 e-hdi 1.6 auto is still going strong. I have noticed today that the clutch seems to slip a bit in between gear changes . ( . i think the clutch may be on its way out.)
But all in all I am still impressed with the car and engine and the gearbox. [-o<
