OBD2 problem on C5 2009, missing 12v
My C5 138HDI 2009 didn't pass car inspection due to they could not connect to OBD port.
I done some testing and it seems that I have no +12v on pin 16.
I can't find any blown fuse, and it seems like OBD2 MIGHT (according to some internet source) share whit some driving light (all lights where working at car inspection).
(G37 Daytime-running lamps – Diagnostic socket)
http://pinoutguide.com/CarElectronics/c ... nout.shtml
I have ground on pin 4+5 and some action on many other pins, I feel postive that I "only" need to fix 12v on pin 16.
I tried to call several dealers but they just want me to make an appointment in three weeks and leave the car for a day, "thats impossible to tell where the problem is", "On those cars there is fuses everywhere...", "We have never heard of it before, that might take days to find" , "Try to change battery"
I have a new battery, no economy mode.
What usually is the problem? Is there some fuse I didn't find?

Re: OBD2 problem on C5 2009, missing 12v
Hi and welcome.
That information regarding the fuse at G37 is correct and the DRLs share this with the OBD. The Economy mode will kick in within 30 minutes regardless of battery condition, and to be honest I'm lucky if I get 4-5 minutes before mine kicks in even with a new battery. This can be a problem sometimes with connecting to Lexia, but I generally use it with the engine running to do any diagnostic work for this reason, unless I need to perform some work with the engine off. On this case I disable economy mode from the BSI for the session (it re-initialises itself again at the end of the session).
I wasn't aware accessing the OBD was part of any test in Sweden, but then you do seem to do things a little differently over there . Can you get them to connect up with the engine running for the test?

Re: OBD2 problem on C5 2009, missing 12v
Hi and Thanks.
They have the engine running.
And I measured pin 16 with engine running still no voltage. And I have no economy mode for the moment.
I don't miss any DRL but there might be some I don't know about... I have the parking lights only. (5 or 10w in head light).
Is the fuse in the hidden fuse box under the steering wheel?

Can you post or PM your VIN number and I'll have a check as you're referring to a 2009 model in the topic, but have 2008 and 2011 models in your avatar. Fuses may be different depending on spec. and year - I'll be able to check for you.

The car is manufactured 2008 06 but is sold as 2009 years model. Same chassis as 2011.

I would still post up the VIN (well, PM it to Marc), as it is not unheard of for Citroen to use a variety of suitable parts (depending on what was available). The VIN will (when he logs onto the Citroen system) give the correct details for YOUR car, as opposed to generic details.

Re: OBD2 problem on C5 2009, missing 12v
Ok, just to make things more confusing for people there are 2 sets of fuses with the same references it would seem with reference G36 to G40. One set in the passenger cabin fuse box (upper row on the BSI) found on a left hand drive vehicle under the driver's side compartment. The other in the engine compartment fuse box also labelled G36 to G40.
G37 in the upper row of the passenger compartment BSI fuse panel is for the heated front seats (if fitted). The G37 fuse in the engine bay is for the Daytime running lamps and the diagnostic socket.
Just to clarify DRLs: The first picture is for my car that has Xenons with the DRL on: This diagram shows the model with Halogen light bulbs (5 bulbs). Later nodels changed the DRL bulb shown (5) for the LED strip. So the DRL is the bulb shown in the top picture prior to 2013. So if you do not have this working - either your fuse is blown which might explain the OBD socket out - or your DRLs are not activated via the Car lighting menu or are not activated via the BSI. I doubt the latter is true because being Volvo country ( ), I think they are required to be enabled by law in Scandinavian countries.

Re: OBD2 problem on C5 2009, missing 12v
Now, just to make things even more confusing - I suspect there may be a mistake (not surprisingly) with the Citroen wiring diagram, because it seems that they have possibly got the pinout channel the wrong way round and mixed up pin 40 and fuse G37 and instead show Channel 37 and fuse G40! As per the handbook, and the table in my last post which is from the same wiring diagram, it should be Fuse G37 So you will probably have to do a visual check.
Lastly, to confirm this, here is the fuse table from the manual which clearly states G37 is for the DRL and Diagnostic:
Note: I have spliced the picture together to save space, so BH09A on Channel 16 of the diagnostic port is as shown, but I think on the fuse box, channel 37 should be channel 40 and G40 should be G37! Lastly, to confirm this, here is the fuse table from the manual which clearly states G37 is for the DRL and Diagnostic:

Well it seems like I should have more lights. I thought it was to little But car inspection was happy
Wife's car is 2011 and it have a led strip.
Is that fuse box under the hood or is it hidden?
I think there is one next to the ones at my left knee if I take a few panels off.

Yes the LED DRLs came in earlier - I was thinking of the engine changes in 2013 - I've edited my post.
The G37 fuse for the DRL and OBD is the one under the bonnet - NOT the G37 that is also in the passenger compartment fusebox attached to the top row above the BSI, which contains the following fuses - they are not the same: (Click to zoom).

The bottom picture shows the TWO fuse panels for the passenger compartment - there are no more! - bottom row (just out of view) and the top row - which is NOT the G37 for the OBD. See my last picture for these top row fuse diagrams.

Have a check - are you sure you have located G37 in the under-engine fuse box - according to the diagrams it should be inside a plastic clip - I'll see if I can dig it out..... here it is
