I,ve just brought a 1996 Xantia 1.9td. Rev counter not workng. Haynes manual locates TDC sensor on top of clutch bell housing. Well for the life of me I cannot see it. How much of the car will I need to dismatal to get at it? It's my first Citroen so please state the bleedenly obvious. Thanks in advance.

Later ECU models have the pickup in the top of the bell housing, earlier models have it situated in the block bell housing flange facing the back of the flywheel, round the back near the diff.
Its been my experience so far that the clock goes down rather than the pickup, easey to test for on ECU models not so easey otherwise, think I remember it being possible to test for a signal by connecting the pickup to the input of a personal stereo or the like.
