HOORAY!
I've found my dodgy sensor. There is no rhyme or reason to it, just like a proper French component, it gives a Gallic shrug, and downs tools for lunch/wine/ strike.....
It's the rearmost of the two (turbo 1, Series 2).
Has anyone got one? Two?
Is there an alternative?
Has anyone on here seriously considered/have any experience of aftermarket engine management? KDFI?

Re: GTI Turbo crank sensors
I've carried out a quick, but reasonably scientific experiment. With an ohm meter set to 'beep' I've gently heated the offending sensor, held in a vice (!) Once it gets warm, it stops beeping.
That's not really gonna work very well in a big hot engine is it

Re: GTI Turbo crank sensors
Typical crank sensor failure, they just can't hack the heat & vibration sadly. If you could post a photo of the sensors & plugs plus get an ohm reading from the "good" one it might make finding an alternative easier...

Is there a number on it? Must be made for other cars too, just a case of finding what. Number or even who made it my turn up something on Google
