Daffodil the AX is loosing power.

Well I cannot replicate it (always the way) but the new owner has experienced a gentle loss of power twice now to the point she thinks the car will stop. Shortly after it starts and runs fine.
This happened BEFORE I had done any service work on the engine and has now happened just after fitting Plugs, leads, oil, filters.

I have just changed the main fuel filter this morning (did not have time before) after the second session of power loss.
I took the car out after fitting the new filter and again I experienced zero symptoms.

Any thoughts other than the obvious one of fuel starvation ?

Has it got a manual choke?

Could have the fuel filter if not changed for a while, seem it before.

Auto choke, carb looks in good order, auto choke is functioning OK.
Just changed the fuel filter after this latest power loss......I hope this will solve the problem.

I is reportedly a gradual power loss going to a "stutter".....I cannot replicate the problem and from the day I picked it up when I have driven it she goes like a little rocket and has always rev free and pulled well for it's size.

Was wondering if it may be a coil....or just a female problem

Coil or restricted fuel sounds most likely.

The description of the symptoms sounds like an ignition fault I experienced on an Allegro once, that turned out to be an incorrect rotor arm that didn't quite reach the contacts in the cap. When cold/warm it was fine but if things got a bit hot it would start to gradually lose power and then misfire worse and worse until undriveable. 5 minutes later it'd start perfectly and run a while longer. running with the bonnet popped was enough to keep it running & I went through the whole ignition system before I noticed the rotor arm was too short. Presumably as things got hot it made it harder for the spark to jump the air gap and still ignite the fuel.

Another thing you could check is the fuel tank breather isn't blocked. if it's not allowing air in as fuel gets used it'll build a vacuum and on a run eventually overwhelm the fuel pump's ability to feed the carb/injector

Earth straps? Iffy earths could cause similar symptoms, or, spark plugs not quite right spec? Maid in the village had a 106, ordered a service kit from ecp, fitted and run lovely until warm, spluttered, juddered and was barely driveable, when cold again was fine,

I will check the earths.
Same with new plugs as it was with the old ones. Plugs were the same type/spec
