And some ppl in the 205 scene prefer the early simca suitcase engine/gearbox. Probably much rarer too.

I guess back in the 60's and 70's each nation had their own loyalties and brands, I remember travelling in France and the cars were quite different - Renault, Panhards, Citroens, Simcas instead of Austin 1100s, Triumphs & Fords here. Germany it was VAG, Opel and Taurus/Ford, Italy Fiats and exotica. Now its ubiquitous VAG/PSA and few other odd bits wherever you look - you wake up in a Novotel, go down for the universal Novotel breakfast and look out to the universal Novotel car park full of universal Novotel-dwellers cars, you could be anywhere in Europe.

So back then, if you lived in the Netherlands and wanted to buy local and loyal, it was a DAF. Thinking about names, when they invented "the Transmission" they could have called cars with it fitted the DAF-T. Wonder why not?

That variomatic transmission design is/was the basis for the more modern variable transmissions as fitted to many Fords, FIATs and others., they just scaled it down, made the belts from steel and tucked it all away in a more conventional box.

I had a fiat punto sporting with the 1.2 16v engine and the cvt transmission. It was awesome to drive for such a small car. Floor thr throttle, you got 6000 revs and the car caught up, rapidly! It also had a program that had 7 steps built in that you chose by flicking the gear selector forward or back. You couldnt over rev it though, if you hit the revlimiter before you changed then it changed itself. It was a fun little car.

Must be blushing, I don't see the flowers. Daffodil you look rather shiny and just a tad naked.

Those flowers need to go back on! Daffodil is just not right without them and I'm sure Redhead will agree ;)

If new flowers cannot be procured, you could always get lots of those pink accessories Alasdair, and especially a decal that says 'Powered by fairy Dust' in plink lettering and with a lovely little pink magic wand...

When are you taking her for an MOT?
