Nigel, the Lexia supplied by Easy Diagnostics only comes with 7.57, for the reasons Marc has stated.
Er Yes James...That is another point. Even if your hardware supported it, the Windows 7 Starter OS won't:

Neither your hardware or Software supports 4Gb

I was not aware of the limit within Windows 7 Starter. Microsoft; doing everything they can to limit computers to their (Microsofts') capabilities.

It was designed that way to be a 'lighter' version for cut down hardware utilised in smaller netbooks that don't need all the features of the other versions. People are always moaning about how resource hungry the OS can be without any Apps software - The starter edition is not designed for heavy mainstream power use.

I can remember that Windows 98 (both editions) could only support 512MB RAM (even though the hardware could manage 4GB RAM). The problem was that Windows 98 would NOT tell you this, and if you fitted more than 512MB it would not produce consistent errors, so you could not (unless you knew about the limit) nail down the problem. I recall when a friend had major problems with his system, and we re-installed Windows 98 several times (and tried different routines for installing the various device drivers). After we installed the third or fourth set of device drivers we would get various error messages. Then, after about two hours of this, and after another cold re-boot (which we let fully complete without hitting a bypass key) I noticed the memory count went to 1024MB (he had upgraded it a few days earlier, but did not mention it when I turned up to help). THEN I knew what the problem was. Taking it back down to 512MB sorted everything out.

That explains my inability to upgrade a Toshiba NB250 then and my dislike of Toshiba laptops.
Thanks for the lexia info everyone, Just got to wait for easy diagnostics to open up again.

I can help with a tested copy of windows xp pro and a service pack 3 disk if anyone needs it.
would I be better off using windows 7 ultimate which I also have on disk although I have heard it can
present with a few setup problems with a lexia?

In xp pro I can at least use the inbuilt wireless with its original drivers in windows 7 ultimate I'll need to use a usb pen
if I want to get online with wireless.

The naked pc boards pictured in the lexia pics on easy diagnostics I find a bit intimidating do these fit into
the supplied adapter or have I got to buy boxes to mount these in?

regards.

Frankly, providing you're not intending go surfing the internet then stay with XP. The chances of you picking anything up are minimal. If you leave the wifi switched off then you're absolutely safe.

The Lexia is within the standard housing. The reason behind the pictures is that some of the cheaper Chinese clones are missing chips that the later Citroens need. Easy Diagnostics Lexia clones are fully populated boards, and can certainly handle the C5 Mk1 and X7 (I have used mine running Diagbox 7.15 on these cars).

Thanks paul & James.

I am on the fcf on the windows xp laptop at the mo, I just wanted to set it up so I could get on the forum
and post pics from the lexia if need be, it will save faffing about with usb pens.
i shall certainly turn off the wirless whilst using the lexia.
installed office 2003 this mornning went well, then firefox as the browser and my wirless printer software
so I can print from my driveway if need be.
there are some advantages to being wirless capeable. will have to remmeber to switch it off using the lexia And only switch it on if
absolutely necessary to print or post to the fcf.
I am and always have been a bit of a maintenance nut always doing maintenance and virus scans each and every time i use my computers.
so hopefully all will be ok. i like to be able to use my computers as soon as they are switched on instead of being held to ransom
by a pending scan or maintenance shedule.

This is a handy USB device to be able to peer into murky corners, into chassis box-sections, or to video record from:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/XCSOURCE-Endosc ... deo+Camera

Actually bought it for checking out some blocked household drainage (this one has a 5m cable), but works well on the Lexia tablet. Lots of similar devices about.

If anyone is thinking of buying an Easy diagnostics Lexia 3 may I suggest you get your hand in quick
apparently as of this morning 13th March 2017 they are out of stock and there is already a waiting list for them.
I have added my name and phone number to the list of customers for the end of the week delivery to easy diagnostics.

They do have the Bluetooth version available for anyone that may be interested but as for the wired version, it seems to be very popular.

Jim doesn't appear to have supplied one yet but if you ring him and explain you are an FCF member he will almost certainly apply a discount.

There seems to be three kits available on the lexia, which one do forum members tend to buy?
the gold kit has six dvd's apparently. I'd like to be able to use it on my sons Peugeot as well as my Mk2 C 5.

Which Peugeot? The later the model, the more that you have to make sure that you get a Rev C Full Chip unit.

I wouldn't like to be dogmatic but I would have thought that a Rev B would suit your car. And you might not even need a full chip set, although I'm less sure about that.

My Son Has a 2002 Peugeot Expert which has the c-15 1.9 diesel engine.
He has the common fuel tank sender issue, always showing empty.
I'd like to find out if it is the sender unit or the dash dial, or even just a bad earth fault.
would also like to code a radio for him if possible as the one he has doesn't work
its not matched to the vin number.
