Synergie Stop warning light

Post by waveyr02 »

My 2.0 hdi synergie has been idle for a couple of weeks so I put the battery charger on this morning(without disconnecting the battery ),so went start it all running ok but now the red stop warning is flashing , no other lights all levels ok wasn't flashing when I parked it up only thing I think could be the battery charger ?!. Is it possible to reset the light without diagnostics?.

Thanks Simon.

Having you tried disconnecting the battery, wait a while and trying again?

Check in the cabin fuse box for a fuse marked SH. Try moving it to the other position (this fuse has two positions), leave it for a couple of minutes, and then put it back the other way.

I had an issue on a company Picasso where the dashboard was playing up (and other things). RAC did that, problem solved.

That's the shunt fuse - used when a car is going to be left in the showroom for a while and then gets put back into customer mode prior to customer preparation when sold.

The only trouble with generic scanners is they they don't give you the details - and can't provide all the data that a Lexia can.

Mine was a 1.9. STOP flashed for all sorts of reasons, most common being one of the doors or tailgate not quite shut, or the handbrake not being off. If everything else looks OK, go round the car and check and de-crud the springy switches on the doors. I had one car, might have been Synergie, which flashed stop if you put a heavy bag (toolbag, battery charger) on the passenger seat because it sensed it as a person. My toolbag was hopeless at putting its seat belt on. Told it dozens of times ......

I know about the SH (Shunt) fuse, and the reason I mentioned it was that when my Xsara Picasso threw a hissy fit that is what the RAC guy did to fix the problem (moved the SH fuse to the other position for a couple of minutes), and it cleared the problem. In the time I had use of the car it never did that again.

The fact that the car is running ok and everything is working I don't fancy moving the shunt in case it causes a problem or fries something, think I will just put some black tape over the light and be done with it!.
