Sorry to hear of your current troubles. Some here probably know the car, but many of us don't. Can you give a bit of a description?

Yes, very sorry to hear you've had a stroke, hope you are on the mend.
As said, if there are people that know the car they should be able to advise, otherwise pics and description would help.

I know of a basic running LHD D-Super (an ID by another name) with good mechanicals but needing much bodywork that was obtained from a well-known Internet auction site for a tad under two grand recently...

How typical this is or what it says about values I don't know. It seems to have been the bargain of the century and may well have been a complete fluke.

This particular example I believe was an import...

According to the great man's sig, it's a 72 D Special, and laid up for >30 years, I imagine it's RHD. I'll have a look in Practical Classics and see what their guide price is for a project, but a lot will depend on what has happened to it in the lay up, and why it went in there in the first place. James Walshe (occasional poster here, and PC staff writer) has just picked up a similar car - although his looks to be in good condition but needs putting back together, that might act as an upper starting point.

It's a pity we're all so spread out, or we could have a FCF 'D' project! I'd love to take it on, but I've got one pile of rust that used to be a car already!

Edit: James' car:

Found the guide on line: Price guide

So a Cond 3 (running with test, but tatty) car is £3500 - Suggests a project is a bit less than this. If it's RHD car, then it's probably £1500 - £2500, assuming it's not a goner, and depending on condition, which is on the nose for your £2k project, Jim. I expect the D section of the CCC would be able to provide a better guide - and may even produce a buyer.

Pity it's not a de-cap - check out the price!!!

I KNOW that Chris570 was interested in this DS, so I would STRONGLY suggest somebody points him in this direction (I already have)!

This crossed my mind too - we could all chip in and at least get it to a state where it started, stopped and raised itself up, then Chris could get a better price for it! The location of it (I've seen it, I'd say cond 3 but not rotten) makes it really damned awkward to do such a thing though.

Same here. Malcolm was so proud of it, even in that state.
