Help save my Xantia! AKA The immobiliser has made it break down.
Had this car since 2009, 100% reliable. Now it won't start. Here are the stats:
P reg 97, 1.9TD. Red and green lights appear when ignition turned on.
It is parked at work, so what's the easiest/quickest fix guys? I can't scrap it, the rear tyres are only a year old and it's such a great car!

Just had a check and my system only covers the Series 2 on, so if you hang on, maybe one of the other members can help out with some information. Really sorry, but don't give up hope yet!

I don't have a wiring diagram, but red and green lights on the immobiliser indicate that the keypad can't talk to the pump, which may be a simple as a blown fuse. Check all the fuses in the engine fuse box.

As Mike says, red and green means loss of communication. I have resolved this in the past by carrying out a diagnostic using an old ELIT diagnostic tester which will 'talk' to the keypad and clear any stored faults. To my knowledge only the ELIT will succeed and the Chinese clone Lexia diagnostic testers often won't communicate.
If all of the above suggestions don't work if you can find someone with a working ELIT then it's worth a go. Sadly you're a way away from me and it is only very occasionally I ever travel down that way now.
Finally, the situation can be resolved by de-armouring the pump to gain access to the stop solenoid. Then it is a straightforward care of running an ignition-switched supply too the stop solenoid and all will be good.
De-armouring the pump is not trivial though and requires removal of it from the engine for a start.
There will be some topics on here covering de-armouring but for now here's a small piece I did on the subject.

As Citrojim says if you can get a ELIT for the keypad great try that then its dearmour the pump as per jim's guide and rewire.

In fact, when de-armouring, it's not such a bad idea, whilst the pump is out, to go the whole hog and reseal it with new seals and gaskets...

Wow. Thanks for the replies folks. Not the best of news by the sound of things.
I'm just wondering what has actually gone wrong with mine. Could it be just a simple dry joint somewhere or has the solenoid died, or the keypad?
Looking at all the wonderfull photos I've seen here, it seems that citroen either had 100% confidence in the lifespan of the fuel solenoids or when they went, did they just replace the whole pump?
My Xantia is not worth spending much money on (only paid £250 for it in 2009) but I have always intended to keep it as long as I can. I've always wondered what would eventually force me to get rid of it. I expected it to be the cambelt replacement cost. Never thought it would be something so silly as this.
