XUD9T & XUD11T engine data

Post by Old-Guy »

Does anyone please have, or direct me to, a dependable source of authoritative data for the most powerful versions of these engines at various times please? The PSA engine pages on Wikipedia are incomplete and imprecise.
I know, for example, that the XUD9T of 1995 (no emissions equipment) is slightly more powerful than the 1996 version with EGR and ECU-controlled injection timing but I can't find accurate figures - Citroen's published figures are usually rounded for marketing purposes e.g. 90 and 110 (hp).
What I'm after is:
Engine type (e.g. XUD9TEY); kW (or hp), rpm; NM (or ft/lb), rpm; Euro 1/2/3/4; production (end) year.

Marc
You're a star! Thank you so much.
Researching the 1.6HDi engines, set me thinking:
From 1995 XUD9, 1.9, 91hp to 2011 DV6C, 1.6, 112hp is quite a jump in hp/L (47 to 71) even over 16 years; and at the same time a big improvement in specific fuel consumption, though I don't have any figures yet for the XUD9.
I thought I'd look into the engines in between, including the ill-starred 16V 1.6HDi (DV6TED4).
The change from 1995 to 1996 is interesting in that it shows what one might expect with the introduction of simple emissions control, a drop from 91hp to 89hp on what is otherwise a largely unchanged engine.
Subjectively, I'd noticed much more low-down grunt from the DV6C compared with the XUD9; I put this down to greater torque in a lighter car (the Xantia is a heavy old bus) but I've not looked at the actual weights. Now I see that the 1.6 not only develops a lot more torque but the maximum is at a mere 1750rpm compared with 2250. Hmmm. Vairy interesting! I shall look more closely at this.
When I've finished compiling my chart and ruminating, I'll post it, perhaps with some further observations.

No worries Guy - if you want any more, just shout - there seemed to be quite a few variations of the XUD11 - so I picked this one from an XM on the 2.1 TD model. On the XUD9T - I looked at the differences from 1995 up and couldn't see any changes in the data, so just posted the one. :-D

Thanks again Marc, I can't help my curiosity once I've started an interesting train of thought - and anyway it keeps the little grey cells working.

Indeed, a most useful piece of reference Marc :) I thank you for that too.

The XUD11 (2.1TD) specification above is also applicable to the 2.1TD Xantia...

There were indeed many earlier versions of the XUD11 used in the XM. Very early ones had Lucas DPC pumps, later ones the Bosch VP20 mechanical before the last with the Lucas EPIC electronic pump. The specifications above apply to the EPIC pumped versions.

There was a non-turbo XUD11 too... Not sure what cars it was ever fitted to. may have been sued in vans.

An interesting fact about one version of the XUD11 was its use as a reference engine in oil specification tests; it was used to determine a particular rate of wear in one component. I can't recall exactly which now but can find out if anyone is interested.
