When I said they were local I meant that they came from and started in Wirral. They are now an international touring band.jgra1 wrote:I did see a good tribute band! I think it was them now you mention it Paul.. a few years ago but they were playing a local venue.

But be careful it can be addictive. I used to go over to Liverpool in the late 70s and early 80s to follow the music scene. I married in 1984 and only went to a couple more before other things became more important. In addition by the time the 90s came along I found that I just didn't like most of what was available - in fact it was an almost complete wasteland for me.
It all restarted for me in 2003 when I heard that Paul McCartney was coming to play in Liverpool in what was essentially a big tent in King's Dock. Since then I have been to so many different gigs that I've just lost count. Some bands and acts I was seeing again but others I was seeing for the first time. It was thirty years late but I eventually saw The Damned. On the other hand I renewed my acquaintance with OMD for the umpteenth time.
I have expanded my areas of interest as my wife has slightly different musical tastes to me. In addition we have both been to a few classical music events with the RLPO although I remain a popular classics bloke.
Fortunately I paid off my mortgage some years ago and can afford it. But the feeling of joy after each event is priceless.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

If it's the same guy you're talking about, Rick Vito was with Fleetwood Mac (along with Billy Burnette) when Lyndsey Buckingham temporarily left the group round about the Tango in the Night era (87-91). They did a cracking job of filling the gap! Rick is on the far right.Paul-R wrote:Have either of you seen the tribute band Rumours of Fleetwood Mac? Apart from the fact that they were originally (very) local to me they do an extremely impressive set including a portion dedicated to the Peter Green era - a favourite of mine as well.
They also sometimes appear with ex-FM (87 - 91) guitarist Rick Vito which is incredible. Rick's playing impressed me so much that when he came over for a mini tour I went to see that as well.

Indeed, one and the same Rick Vito. IIRC Burnette joined FM on condition that Rick was also invited to join.GiveMeABreak wrote:, Rick Vito was with Fleetwood Mac (along with Billy Burnette) when Lyndsey Buckingham temporarily left the group round about the Tango in the Night era (87-91). Rick has said that when he joined FM it was intention to bring back some of the earlier bluesy Peter Green era songs. Rick plays a fantastic Albatross as I can personally testify.

Re: Donny Osmond
They are both brilliant guitarists - being a FM fan, I was very dubious about the new line up, but having seen them play live (recorded - alas not personally) I was really impressed with both. I'm going to have to see if there's a DVD conversion made of the Tango Tour VHS video that I sadly no longer have!
I must admit Paul - I didn't click your ex-FM (87 - 91) reference to Fleetwood Mac at first - I though you were referring to 87-91 FM Radio! I thought - that's odd, didn't know Rick Vito was a DJ too!

Many many moons ago in the 60's I was a roadie for a group and we did mostly the college circuits. We played with a lot of the groups that were around in the 60's ( but not the super groups) One for Eddie, we played with NICE before they were ELP, plus I remember we also played with Status Quo it was after Pictures of matchstick men, they were top of the bill with us supporting, we shared the same dressing room ( classroom in a college) everyone was friendly, the next time we played with them, at the same college somehow the people who did the posters got things mixed up, somehow we were down as topping the bill and the quo were supporting us, that didn't go down well at all with them. Yes I had a great time in that period lots of memories with different groups.

Re: Donny Osmond
Not tribute related but Leo Sayer, remember him, is still doing his stuff on the circuit. Now, he's been lurking for a good few years! On a damp, dismal Saturday in Dublin a couple of years back we got the last two 'restricted' view seats at the Olympia Theatre to see him. No real interest but hey .... Turned out to be something special. The guy can still belt out a song in good pitch. Amazing really and shows that he's not just in it for the money. Good thing is he's coming to our local Whitley Bay Playhouse in May this year. Think i'll pop along [emoji6]

Yup, saw Leo Sayer a couple of years ago. He can hold a concert together and do proper links that don't sound forced.

Just looking back through some of my photos. Here's Rumours with Rick Vito from December 2014. Rick is just left of centre next to the white shirt.

This is the Kylie Minogue of my era, she did it the other way round though singing and recording first then the Aussie soaps.
She came out to Egypt with Terry Thomas and did a show for the Brit soldiers out there, sang 'Little things mean a lot.' although I can't find a youtube of that, maybe she didn't record it or too early.

All these mentions of Fleetwood Mac!
My granddaughter (17) has been collecting all their vinyl albums.
I have a few + some CDs.
However, I feel compelled to drop this here as I feel it is an outstanding cover that equals if not surpasses the original
Grace Potter is amazing and together with Gov't Mule this is a knockout (IMO)
