James, the service light comes on about five minutes after starting up but only for a few seconds there are no other warning lights lighting up with it.
It does come on sometimes when I start the engine but not every time.
it is almost as though it forgets to do the check at start-up and delays it.

here's one should I have done a bsi reset when I changed the sidelight bulbs? because I didn't do that.
Ive checked all rear bulbs for corrosion faulty connections and all seem to be ok.
so far Ive done one bsi reset to see if it makes any difference, it did for one day of driving and then
the service light seemed to go back to its usual behaviour.
I am worried that the dpf might be clogging on a regular basis with the car having now done 84K
performance seems to be pretty good and my last attempt as forcing a regen 40 miles in fourth gear at between 75 and 80mph
produced a very nasty burning smell in the cabin at about 32 miles in. I assumed that this might have been the point at which a regen occurred.
just guessing though.

No, you only really need to do a BSI reset when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery - or sometimes to clear a few gremlins, but really not at all frequently and certainly not when changing bulbs (unless you have discharge bulbs and of course would disconnect the battery for that job).

You just need to get it on that Lexia Nigel and allow the EML to come on - it sounds like a temporary fault - if permanent there will be a log.

If yours is the exclusive then does it have motorised opening and closing? Just asking for clarification.

Sorry, hatchback. Not the same as tourer. Please ignore.

Yes, I've used these people several times - UK made quality - you just need to confirm the number on your original strut and they should be able to match them up. A 2 year warranty and 60 days no hassle returns - price is excellent too.

D'ohh. Wrong twice over. I speed-read "purchased 09/12/2016" as being a 2016 car.

Here's an interesting problem. The exclusive has lit footwells. And I use a tiny CCTV camera mounted under the steering cowling to display a colour picture of my feet and the pedals on a screen on the dash. This because I have Neuropathy in my feet. It means I can't feel them very well the image helps me to locate the correct pedals at the right moment without doing something daft like accelerating into the rear of the car in front. A quick glance at the screen is very helpful to me. What I would like to know please is there a way to keep the foot well light on permenantly whilst the ignition is on. If not I'll need to explore another way to light the foot well in the xantia I used a tiny cycle lampthe thing is this exclusive is a very tidy car and I don't want to wreck it it is so nice in comparison to my somewhat. Tatty ole Xantia. Thanks. Nigel

These lights are timed, so that won't work Nigel - and probably aren't meant to stay on for very long, otherwise there would be significant heat build up. I'm guessing you need the light to get a decent image from the camera?

What about something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4X-9LED-REMOT ... SwSv1XldYm

Plugs into the cigarette lighter and even has a remote control, so you can change the colour of the LEDs depending on night or day, without being too distracted. You can adjust the brightness and they're are simply stuck with 3M tape?

They're actually very good. I have a roll of them that I cut to length. I use them for all sorts of things like undercounter lighting and in the future puddle lights for the Xantia doors. If you'd like a little strip of plain white ones to try out I'll put some in the post for you. You just have to solder leads to the tabs and connect them to 12v, I can solder the leads if you're not happy soldering. The only thing with mine is they are not dimmable but you can just snip a few off if it's too bright along the marked cut lines.

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions, have been chatting with a photographer today
and he suggested using a 12 volt DC IR illuminator, my little camera switches to black and white
after dark anyway and a IR illuminator is invisible to the naked eye but visible to the camera.

apparently a 3 watt 48 led IR illuminator will light to a distance of 20 meters in front of itself so the image should be absolutely crystal clear.
the one that has been suggested is 6 squid and 7cm across and only switches on at low light levels which is adjustable.

it can be mounted under the drivers seat. possibly in the absent cd changer carrier.

right so that's two 12 volt dc sockets in the car, a cctv camera front facing with satellite positioning for recording the journey.
a cctv camera for the foot well, a cctv 4.8inch screen to view the foot well, an IR light, a phone charger lead, these 12 volt ciggy lighter sockets are going to be very loaded.
with devices oh and sat nav and a Bluetooth phone device to.

good job Ive just put the new battery on the car.

cheers Nigel.

If you add up the amps you're getting nowhere near the load those 12v sockets van supply. Shouldn't be any bother at all.
