I've had C5s for 11 years now and IIRC the first one was on a Lexia only to sort out some poor running issues that needed a replacement MAF.

Current one to try and make sense of the CD changer - didn't work - it only plays in the left hand channel but both tracks are there and a whining in the right channel linked to the engine speed that I thought was the turbo (can never hear the turbo).

So all in all not too bad.

OK I'm fairly computer savvy as I build them and maintain them for friends and family so probably s good idea elma. So I've just done 25 miles on the A14 in fourth gear between 70 and 75 mph and no sign yet of the dreded service light
Acceleration does seem to be a bit more punchy now than it was will keep watching for the service light and keep you posted. Thanks Marc for pointing out it's the revs that count. 3000rpm seems to be about right. I get the feeling oil temperature Also has something to do with triggering the regen to as I watched it rise considerably on the fourth gear run. How much does a Lexia cost these days? I know Pleiades doesn't have one. Cheers and Happy New Year. regards Nigel

I think a few quid under £100 for the rev c version that'll talk to an x7. Others are more qualified to advise than I as ive never set eyes on one.

I have (in the Recommended section) done a write up of Easy Diagnostics. Their kit is (in my experience) reliable and capable of handling most issues. It is more expensive than other Lexia kit found on e-bay, but you get what you pay for. When you place your order they will call you to make sure they can help. It is worth mentioning that you are a member of this forum, as they may knock off the price of P&P (they did for me a few years ago).

If I was to buy one I'd want to be able yo use it on my fathers mk1 1996 vsx my sons 2004 Peugeot partner van and my 2007 c5. Looks like I'm gonna need a few leads then? Already have a windows seven ultimate laptop sitting idle with 3 gig of ram in it and a dual core Intel atom processor. _2600mhz. Should be OK for the job. I've also hot a windows XP pro disk knocking about it will still find the updates from Microsoft. They lied when they said the updates would no longer be available in actual fact they poisoned peoples computers with two new updates to prevent them from downloading the XP updates. Which are still available to this day.

Does the 30pin lead for the mk1 work out of the box from easy diagnostics? The only reason I haven't bought a Lexia is the issues I've read about with the 30pin leads. I'm very much a mk1 man so none of the other leads really interest me.

Mine came with several leads, but I have only had to use the 16 pin D plug one.

Looks like a good deal for someone who owns an x7. A Toshiba computer would need to come with the factory recovery disk in case it ever crashes though. They tend to use a little of the hard disk for back up purposes to. And you can't upgrade the memory sticks with anything other than Toshiba memory which can be expensive. I was asked to upgrade a Toshiba laptop recently it wouldn't accept the corsair memory I tried to install in it had to put back one of the original Toshiba sticks to get it to boot in the end.

All I know is that it works, as I've used it via dial in on one occasion with OSX. Generally people just use a functioning laptop for Lexia only and leave it at that. Once it works, generally no need to faff about with ugrades unlike a general PC that you would use for other thngs. Having a dedicated laptop for diagnostics and keeping all the bloatware, other crud and such off makes sense in cases where Diagbox may need to be reinstalled quickly.
