ABS TOOTHED DRIVESHAFT RING ON XANTIA?

Post by HDI »

The offside ABS toothed ring on the offside front drive shaft on my Xantia HDI 90 has split and sprung apart, leaving a gap. So the ABS thinks there is wheel slip and keeps kicking in.
Has anyone ever changed one of these, if so what is involved. It looks like it would be an interference sliding fit. The rings are available on ebay.
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(

Easy enough: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 8&start=16

I'd give JandR CV joints a try - their parts are pretty good value.

I've welded them back on before now, just a couple of spots required.

CitroJim and I sorted out the rings on my Xantia a few years ago. It was a bit of a palaver, as we had to get the hub nut undone, and then disconnect a strut (I cannot remember which bit) from the hub so we could move it out of the way, remove the ring, clean up the drive shaft, and then fit the new ring (which had been in the over for half an hour at 170C) and put everything back together. Then we had to do the same for the other side!

Easier and cheaper than swapping a whole driveshaft though James and then there's the fun and satisfaction of doing it. After all, it's not often you use a cooker for car repairs ;)
