Heater controls

Post by renagade »

Morning guy's
Lets talk about heater controls. 2011 c5 e-hdi 1.6 egs6 now that you all know what car we are talking about.
When the climate control is off ( no air con ) and I want to direct the air are the switches neon on or offfor directing the air. I notice that when the climate control is on ( all year round for me ) the direction switches have no lights on but when I switch the climate off they are still off. What do we think. This is my fourth year of owning a c5 x7 and I still don't know.
Also while I have your attention how or where do I go to set the treble and base on this radio /sat nav thingy.
Thanks guy's that is all for this morning.

Post up your VIN so we know what audio system you have, they all operate slightly differently. This will also help me to know whether you have the dual zone climate or not.
I have the previous VIN (VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]) - but this is for a 2.0 HDi 138 Bhp without EGS, not a 1.6 e-HDi 110 /115 - so I assume you have changed cars?

You have the Myway or RNEG system. As I understand it, that model does not have the Jukebox facility, so you can't copy CDs to the hard drive - there isn't one! - just an internal flash memory card. Despite this it will play normal CDs or MP3 CDs (which can store anything from 100-150 songs on average), but you would have to make an MP3 CD on your PC - use the 'Joliet' standard to ensure playback.

Despite what the manual may say, you cannot load mp3 music onto an SD card and play it! Navigation only for the front loading SD card.

Next - as for changing the treble, bass and audio settings, hold the relevant button down for a few seconds until you see the screen change. I.e. to adjust the audio settings for the radio, hold the RADIO button down for a few seconds. Do the same for the MUSIC button as these settings are stored separately, as each sound source typically needs different settings. All the adjustments will be shown on the display - use either the dials on the steering wheel to change and select options of the head unit dials.

Heating: As for the climate control, you have the bi-zone system. when AUTO is pressed as you know, all air distribution and temperature functions are maintained to keep the driver and passenger temperatures at the selected level (note: the digits displayed on the driver and passenger heating displays are not degrees of temperature - they are just levels). when you press any of the air flow directional buttons, that switches off the 'AUTO' light from the driver / passenger heater selector knob and should illuminate the light for the air distribution button you have pressed. All other functions remain automatically controlled unless you change the temperature dial, which will switch the system into manual mode. Pressing auto again switches back. Be aware that you can't have some combinations of airflow distributions activated together - such as the windscreen and front/rear air vents at the same time.

Hi Mark
That was or is very helpful . I only just noticed that the car does not come with the auto dipping mirror just a manual one. I would have thought with the car being a vtr+ that it would have had the same as the 2009 vtr+ that I sold to the guy next door.
With his drive being so small I let him park it on my drive so now people passing buy think I have two c5 x7 ( I wish ).
Again thank you.

I have an X7, so I know them quite well - I just use the VIN for the the vehicle-specific parts info and the options.
