Fifth gear identification?

Fifth gear identification?
Anyone know what these numbers mean from the part numbers given for my fifth gear of my old Citroen Xantia 1.9TD 1996 Estate?
I think it's a BE3 gearbox.
(47x35)
(47x31)
Seems Citroen can't figure it out.
There are 47 teeth on the large cog on this fifth gear.
But the 35 or 31, dunno?
Closest dimension is the inner shaft but it's a whole 1mm bigger, I think when we're working with rather close tolerances, they wouldn't just 'make it up'?
Here's some measurements of the fifth gear.
Diameter = 90.5
Width = 26.7
Small cog teeth = 24
Big cog teeth = 47
Inside diameter = 32
Shaft splines = 22
Cheers

Re: Fifth gear identification?
Gear ratios maybe, count the teeth on the gear it meshes with. my rough calculations give 47:31 = 1.51:1 47:35 = 1.34:1

Must be Firefox, OK with Chromium. Having problems with images in The Independent on Firefox too.
May be to do with the https stuff.

Re: Fifth gear identification?
I'm using Ubuntu with FirePox and never have any of the issues you seem to face Steve...
For me it just works...
Romie, I say again, the easiest is to get a scrap box from a 1.9TD (any) and rescue the 5th gear assembly from that. Wear as you have is rare...

I'm on Windows 10, it always works for me with very few problems, I did try Chrome once some time ago but found it to be a real pain to use by comparison...........ubunti and the like are for geeks

Re: Fifth gear identification?
I must confess I use both Linux and Windows 10 (albeit for differing purposes) and Win10 is OK as long as it's built from scratch and FirePox is installed on it as a first task.
Big secret with Win 10 is not to fill it up with lots of apps.. Just stick to the bare minimum of why you need an no more...
And if you don't use an app then uninstall it...
Used Windows Server 2012 earlier in the week on a training course... Urggggh! Horrible

I do A LOT of 5th gear travelling in the Xantia.CitroJim wrote:I'm using Ubuntu with FirePox and never have any of the issues you seem to face Steve...

Surf trips to Cornwall, 80 miles a day round trip to work which is ALL along the M40 motorway...
I tend to just get up to 5th then stay there until she stops :p
She has done 313,000 miles tbf
Dunno if this is 'young' still for a 5th gear failure?
Wish I could turn the thing round and use the other sides of the teeth! ;p hahah
I've noticed a few fifth gear kits around (not one for mine unfortunately)
Only trouble with getting another gearbox as a donor is:
1. I might not get exactly the right parts - (dunno if I have enough knowledge to get the right one :/ )
2. They might be in the same sorry state? :/
Hmm
