As you won't be taking the car on a run why not use a mains extension lead to the car and run the laptop off the power supply?

If the laptop battery is really end of life Paul, it won't hold charge even when connected to mains - I had to buy a new one for my Lenovo - it got to to point where it wouldn't even turn on connected to the mains. Bought a double capacity one as a replacement.

Lenovos must be funny beasts then. I'm tapping away on my Toshiba Satellite laptop which is powered only by the power supply - I've taken the battery out. I habitually run this way so as to not shorten the life of the battery unnecessarily. This way it's available for when I need it.

I ran my previous laptop (an earlier Satellite) and the one prior to that (an HP Omnibook) without batteries on the power supply only. I've done so for the last 15 years ever since I knackered the battery on my works laptop by leaving it in when running on the power supply. It quite literally exhausted its life without ever being used.

I've never come across a laptop that won't run if the battery isn't in.

My Lexia is installed on an Advent which was old when I bought it in 2008. The battery has never been very good, about 30 minutes at best, so I tend to run it with the power supply plugged in to an extension cable exactly as I suggested. I only unplug it if I need to drive the car to measure some parameter or other.

I really can't understand why your Lenovo is so unusual.

Similar issues on a lot of DELL laptops - we used hundreds at work and some of these wouldn't power on - new battery and problem solved.

So the Dells are the same as your Lenovo - they won't work off the power supply without a battery being in place? Bizarre!

Hi guys. Can't use extension lead as car is parked on road outside my house and very busy pavement in between, battery has shipped but not received it yet. Whilst on does anyone know if you can disable pressure sensors. Have had my wheels refurbished and they yanked out the factory fitted valves and replaced with ordinary ones. Every time I start car get bong 4 pressure sensors missing.

Did you actually want them removed? If so, fair enough, but at £50-60 a pop I wouldn't be too happy if they did that without asking and I'd be sending them the bill! But to answer your question yes, you can disable the system using Lexia.

They had corroded in, they did give me a call and asked if I wanted the wheels back ( un refurbished).
Told them to carry on. The sensors were telling me I had a puncture when all was well so not working properly.

No luck so far, Diagbox launched then lexia and same as before asking me which of 5 Bosch injection systems is fitted. Did have a good look round rest of menus, bsi ecu was read, found tyre pressure sensor bit but nothing was editable as far as I could see. Same with the diesel additive ecu. Then after about an hour it said VCI missing, tried unplugging and re connecting but same thing. Green light is on when connected. Gave up at this point as was getting cold and dark. Any ideas on injection identification.

I also noted that you had spent some time (an hour)? well it is very likely the car has gone into economy mode and the reason why it won't communicate with the ECUs.

Next time, try starting undertaking the Global Test with the engine running and that may come back with the information Alan.
