footwell lights

Post by renagade »

Hi Guy's
My new to me ( 2011 c5 vtr+1.6 e-hdi ) does not seem to have the footwell lights that my 2009 c5 vtr+ had. Is there a reason for this???? canI retro fit some /is the connections there to retro fit.?????

What's the VIN of your new C5? I'll see what the changes are, but on this diagram for a 2011 1.6 it shows lamps 1, 6 & 8, with 1 & 8 being the footwell ones. You won't have the ambient lighting (3) though that was for exclusives. We'll need your new VIN to be sure, as there were some changes about this time.

Yes, it's displayed in the small cut out area at the bottom of the passenger side windscreen on the outside.

Ok, just checked and you should have the footwell lights according to the docs. They are standard w5w wedge bulbs. I changed all mine to light blue LEDs, much more calming. You should be able to see them, you don't have to be a houdini to do these.

I carn't understand why any one would want to turn them off. They are part of the car's caricature don't you think ?

The bloody sod, just looked under the dash and there are cut out's where the footwell lights should be. Some one has nicked them, hope they have left me some wire to connect to.

Just for reference, the footwell section in the docs is vague ... you'll find the same confirmation for my car, which most definitely didn't have them from the factory, and I've reconfirmed the situation on 6 other cars as well
... so, I doubt anyone actually stole the lights (given their price) ... if you don't find the connectors that go directly to the BSI (from the back, as the genuine wiring would be), the car definitely didn't have them after leaving the factory ...
