Thats true too.i just have to get my mechanic to look at it and see what he says.hopefully it only be a boot.if not,could the unit be got off a scrap car.

They're a very simple unit and you can buy the seals individually from citroen IIRC.

Thats great.doesnt sound all bad so.first time i ever had anything happen with a suspension of a c5 or xantia.thanks so much for your help lain.

Only complicated bit is that you need a Lexia to depressurise the system before taking the cylinder apart and have to prime the pump after. Thats the same though whether you change the cylinder or rebuild it yourself, though.
Dont know, but I would expect it to be possible to strip the cylinder while still on the car??? Hopefully someone else on here has done it and can confirm??? That would at least avoid the risk associated with trying to undo the high pressure line fitting (thinking usual car brake pipe connectors problem e.g. likely to be corroded and round off?)

Got a second hand cylinder unit fitted to the car today.everything seems to be good.watched him cgange it and it looked fairly simple.no lexia or nothing.
