C5 HDI 2L 2003 Lost Spare Key

Post by ozzdownunder »

Hi, I am located 'downunder' in Sydney Australia, own a Citroen C5 HDI 2L 2003 MODEL and have lost my spare ignition key. Does anyone know where to get another key made without having to spend millions on a key. I am aware that it apparently has a chip in the key's so just getting another key is not that simple. Other than replacing the barrel which seems a bit silly I thought there must be people like myself that hide their spare key's and don't remember their hiding place?
Any input on this is appreciated. tx

Getting the key cut is easy enough, but that won't be any good without the transponder chip - whether this is the fob type with the buttons or the non-button type. You can get a spare key ordered from the dealer and they can programme it for you at the garage if you don't have access to a Lexia kit, otherwise you can programme it yourself. At the end of the day, without a spare, if anything happens to the working key, you'll be snookered and will likely have to pay for one anyway - but with the added problem and expense of not being able to move or get into the car! You'll need to code ALL the keys at the same time with the Lexia - even the working one, otherwise the new one will work and the old one won't.

Thanks Marc, I have the original key, the fob type. I have a picture but not certain how to add this in the forum or if allowed to do so.

If you want to post a picture - you just need to use an image hosting programme like Photobucket - upload the image there and that will generate the code and link that you can paste back into your post.

It really doesn't matter which type of key you need - whether the fob with the buttons or the blade type - the buttoned one will obviously be more to buy as it has the electronics and buttons to deadlock and open / close windows etc. Both are coded the same way. They're not cheap to buy, but possibly cheaper than if your remaining key went kaput, leaving you stranded! :-D

Sorry, I think that I deleted your heat post by mistake, there were several duplicate posts and I must have hit the delete key once too often. Please post it again.

If so do you have a picture and part number of this item. This is for a Citroen C5 2003 HDI sedan chassis nr VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] . Price plus postage to Sydney Australia. Kind Regards. Hopefully you may have a diagram that you can send me showing how to remove and replace this part.
I think in your original post, you mentioned that you had managed to isolate the pipes, but wanted to know if there was a way to get to the Heater Matrix without removing the dash IIRC? If that's the case, I think you at least have to remove some part of the dash to get to the part (item 11 below):

Unfortunately, I only have the procedure to remove the dashboard. You may not need to follow all of it - but possibly the relevant bits to get to the matrix. If you want it as a PDF, send me a Proviate Message. I don't have a shortcut unfortunately.

The part for the Heater Matrix is 6448 J8 - An Australian dealer will be able to quote you a price I suspect. As Xantia V6 says, there's only so much we can do! :-D
