New Car

Post by renagade »

I have been looking at a 2011 c5 1.6 airdream automatic and selling my c5 2 ltr. hdi vtr+ . I need a automatic now my left knee is giving way and the clutch pedel is giving me problems. Clutch OK knee is knackered.
I am just worried about the 1.6 airdream engine,is it going to be as reliable as the 2lt hdi

Hi Renagade, the 1.6Hdi engine is a good engine, providing it has been looked after, they really need regular(+) oil changes. The EGS gearbox is okay, but takes a lot of getting used to, you need to be a smoother driver, especially on take-off, I had one for over two years (2011 C4) and my wife hardly ever drove it!

I have a 2.0 Hdi Auto (Exclusive) and am dreading the day I will have to buy another semi-automatic as I prefer 'proper automatic cars' (I typically get around 40-44 mpg sometimes more, Road tax is £225). I do not know if it makes a difference but the Airdream is also steel sprung.

My c5 x7 1.6 e-hdi egs6 is a sooper smooth car and coming from th 2lt hdi vtr+ I carn't hardley feel any difference. Yes my car has the steel springs and I like it. I have had in my past many " liquid " sprung Citroens and I do miss them but finance dictated that the 2009 2'ltr hdi had to go for the 1.6 e-hdi ( which has the stop start fitted ) that only is 30 quid a year tax, good he .
