Xantia indicators and hazard not working?

Hello all, I lent my 98 s2 Xantia to my Son and he say's he put it through a motorised car wash and that has stopped the Flasher and Hazard working.
I have left car in the sun with all doors and bonnet open for few hours, they did work one flash heard a errr noise like it was coming from steering wheel, not worked again. guessing could be flasher unit? wherever it may be? or can any body shed more light on what may have happened, needs a MOT plus i'm not driving with no indicators.

It might be that the indicator stalk has developed a known fault (in that a contact or two has tarnished). I have cleaned one up, and given details (with pictures) on how to fix it;

Before you dismantle the stalk, try operating the hazard button a couple of dozen times, or extract it and clean with isopropanol or one of the better electrical contact cleaners - NOT WD40!

It probably isn't that, although it could be and it's simpler than the stalk repair.

I wonder if water has got into the light holders, and has caused the problem. It happened to somebody who posted in the thread I linked to (well, corrosion in one of the holders).

Thanks for replies, short of time hope to have a go on Sunday, will start with hazard button 1st, 2nd corrosion in holder (car wash?) no result stalk assembly .

Now have Indicators working Really was going to scrap it, so should be OK for new MOT and another years use.
Was in the end quite simple and I did also pull out hazard switch and clean contacts.
