RADIO WIRING PROBLEM ON XANTIA X2

Post by HDI »

I've transferred the radio cassette head unit, type 4035 from my demised Xantia X2 SX to my replacement Xantia X2 LX Forte. It works apart from the steering wheel controls, because the plug for that does not fit, and also, as I've discovered, ignition off standby power. As in, when the ignition is off the head unit powers down and needs the code each time it is used. So the permanent power connection is obviously not going to the correct pin on the unit. I've checked that there is a permanent power connection on the plug, and there is, a thick pink wire.
So, is the pin out available for the 4035 head unit so I can change the plug to the correct configuration?
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(

Sorted! Well, most likely it is but I can't try what I've just found until tomorrow. My lack of knowledge of car audio wiring standards is evident, I didn't realise that there is a universal standard for factory ICE installs!! And lo, it is the ISO connector! So I've just discovered that on the internet of things, it appears that the memory power and switched power feed on the plug of the Forte, that is pin 4 and 7, are transposed! I know this because I checked the pins on the ISO A plug earlier, to find the memory, or permanent power feed. Why that would be I have no idea, as there is no evidence of any messing about with the radio wiring. I'll swap the pins over in the plug tomorrow and confirm one way or the other.

There's more than one ISO std for radio wiring - and PSA use the one that almost nobody else does, which reverses the switched and permanent live. At least you are not trying to fit a radio to a multiplexed car, as that is even more fun....!!

Did some more reading and discovered that power connection reversal! The very strange thing is though, it's the normal way on the SX and reversed on the LX, same model year, trust PSA! Yeah, multiplexed systems, urrrgh!!

There is nothing wrong with the muliplex system - when you want to upgrade the radio you just change the car
