The owner has had it to a garage who've checked it over. They said the head is fine but due the cooler failing oil is building up in the system, a good clean and flush out would help but not cure it. Mileage is about 145k unconfirmed as yet.

That's the accepted fix for a 2.5 XM :)

It would be fine here too...

Someone please buy this.

Otherwise I'm in Leeds for work in about three weeks and I'll buy it, and then Mrs Optix will castrate me.

You can just join the cooling pipes if oil is coming out though :( the cooler needs to be blocked.

You would be a very generous seller to let it. W done on your drive I think ;)

Seems to me it would be easier to replace the oil cooler itself rather than joining the pipes and then stopping off the inlet/outlets on the cooler.

If they're the same as the XUD, am I right in thinking it's just held on by a large nut under the oil filter?

If this is true I can get the car brought here and fit a new cooler ready for someone to driive it away, small charge for my time though.

Iirc Ken yes it's the same.
If it were me I'd just get it off him, do the cooler and stick it on eBay once done :)

Would love to but as above/below not for me. Someone friends with the family wants a Xantia again. I, in good faith as columnist, referred them onto one that looks to be a dead end as seller has changed their minds. …the perils of being a columnist. Lol.

Haha no I like my XUD- couldn't insure this either as its too new..which will be a bit of an issue..hmm..

So maybe this one will work out?

Now you’re talking ;)

If you could pm me with where it is in leeds and cost of above fix id be very interest as I expect to hear from them tonight so can pass it on to let them make a decision.

Assume everything works?
What’s that welding on the sill like?
Any other known issues?

yes yes old ar etc but have to ask!

Some of you may be interested I saw a very early exclusive hdi estate recently; no cruise control. S reg...bought for £30..

thanks

Both sills have been weled towards the rear, Im told its a decent job but havent seen it myself.
Mileage is confirmed at 141k
Hoping to have the car brought here to Wakefield tomorrow so I can see how easy/hard it will be to change.
Can anyone send me an oil cooler please.
