2.0hdi Xantia Exclusive £xx now £80

Post by ken newbold »

A friend of mine has a 2.0hdi Xantia exclusive hatch in gleaming red for sale. Not sure of the year yet but will post tomorrow, maybe even pics. Got mot etc, nice alloy wheels with good tyres. the problem with it is the oil cooler is knacked and is passing oil into the water system. Car is running and has all docs and keys, located in Leeds near M1. Think £150 would buy it. Anyone interested?

Can't the oil coolers be temporarily bypassed Ken?

Yes they can but if the oil is coming out you then have to make sure it's blocked well enough to cope with the oil pressure ;)

To be honest I doubt he'll want the oil cooler as think he just wants rid of it, but I'll ask.
As for how easy they are to change, I've never done one on one of these. Did change one on an XUD which was easy enough but no idea about the hdi
It has MOT until 19th Nov and the owner is leaving the tax on until end of Sept, so could be driven home.
3 tyres are like new and the 4th is very good, steel spare wheel has a good Michelin on it.

I have a little temptation but I'm not ready for another Xantia yet.

Easily fixed, if that's the only problem.
Likely to have had its coolant neglected, as those small heat-exchangers are pretty robust.
Something of a bargain, maybe.
