Hi Chris and thanks for your comment.
I was at the mechanic's shop. he showed me the fan that was replaced. he says that on this model there is an electronic module on the fan that controls the rpm of the fan and it's quite common that it fails. since he specializes in Citroen, I hope that he knows what he is talking about.

There's no module on either of the fans that I replaced.
But then again both the cars were considerably earlier than your so perhaps they're different on the facelift.

Citroen parts diagrams show, for 2.0i petrol:
C5 I and C5 III (X7):
- single fan
- if single speed, plus a relay
- if 3 speed, plus a relay and resistance
C5 II:
- single fan
- one relay
Can't comment further without data on the fan itself, or a full circuit diagram.
Someone here will surely know about this.

Yes, facelift fans have an integrated module containing three or four (can't remember) power transistors, which control the speed. I've had one fail, and was able to repair the module electrically, but unable to reassemble it. The transistors fit under a spring securing them against a heatsink, but it's impossible to reach the spring while reassembling the module. There must be some trick to it, maybe an assembly jig. As a temporary measure, it was easy enough having removed the module to power the motor directly, as a temporary measure.

Anyhow, there one more thing that I would like to ask - there is a pressure switch on the A/C system that disables the operation of the A/C when the coolant in the system drops bellow a certain level. in case of such an event , should I see it when I hook up the Lexia will it appear as a fault?
