That Lexia again

Post by renagade »

Good morning people's
Do we think that the Leia would enable my bluetooth to work on my c5 x7. i was able to activate the mirror's on lock up and to get my Led's working so why not the bluetooth ??????

What does the team think.

If the radio has bluetooth already fitted I can't see why not.

The bluetooth will not be disabled by default IF it is fitted to your vehicle as part of the Head Unit / Audio System as it is part of the basic operation. The only reason this would be disabled if it has been done so by an end user deliberately (although I cannot think why)!

What audio system do you have? Can you PM your VIN so I can see exactly what options you are supposed to have by default on your model and then we can see what the issues possibly are.

Dont know about the X7 but C4's & mk2 C5's with factory bluetooth & RD4 radio has its own Bluetooth control unit, althoug it is controlled by the radio it is not actually integrated into the radio head unit.

No BT for you I'm afraid, you have a RD4 radio, but which is slightly older (HW wise) and doesn't support BT ... but, I'll wait for Marc to prove me wrong just in case ... :D

OK, so you have the RD4 / MP3 System, no Sat Nav, No CD Changer or Seperate HiFi Equaliser, but you should have an RCA / Audio connector in the passenger glovebox.
This system is Bluetooth compatible (if it was supplied as an option at sale) This system can accept a maximum of 4 paired Bluetooth phones. It is possible that the system has already got 4 phones paired - but you can check this.

You can only access certain options from the menu when the car is at standstill. Note - ignition on to accessories may not work if your car has gone into ECONOMY mode, so keep the engine running.
Page 138 of the manual should explain how to check - but in summary:
Press Menu button on unit, then use the UP / DOWN buttons to scroll to Telephone and press OK to confirm. From within this menu there should be options for CONFIGURATION, and within this 'Consulting the List of Twinnings' - which should list all the paired Bluetooth phones.

Now, if you don't even have any telephone options coming up, then it may be that the system does not have the Handsfree Unit installed. I've checked the configuration options and there is nothing configurable in the Head Unit for enabling Bluetooth. If your car has the Hands Free Module as an option, then this will be picked up as an additional ECU and again, there is nothing there to configure apart from the microphone gain.

Edit: Long time no speaksy VAB :-D The unit is compatible as long as the Hands Free option was specified. So just need to wait to see if Renegade has any telephony options in the menu....

I've checked by the VIN using my source, and the unit shouldn't be BT compatible (no option), but since some other specifics are vague regarding the car as I have it listed, I've decided to let you be right for once (in case I'm in the wrong) ... :D

Vague is the operative word when it comes to Servicebox! :-D We know the manual clearly shows the unit as compatible and provides the menu configurations / controls, but without the installed module it won't work of course - so no telematics shown either - and no mention of Hands Free Kit - so I'm guessing probably won't work without it.

Hi Guy's
Thanks for your input. When I go to the screen on the dash above the radio and look for options I only get the equalizer and one other (that does not have anything to do with bluetooth. In the owners manual it shows there are three options one being bluetooth set up. So I guess my car does not have the option to use it.I just thought that as I have the Lexia I would see if it was installable . Once again Guy's thanks for your input.
