LHM PUMP QUEREY

Post by DublinChris »

Hi all back again with another query!
My pump seems to be getting tired. Car is slow to rise in the mornings and sometimes after stopped for short time it can take longer than usual to pressurise. I have been told that it is wear in the pump and I am looking to change it. I believe it is a 6+2 pump. Car is series 2 1.9TD
Question is - is there an recondition/exchange option or is it a new pump? I believe they are pricey? Anyone got any ideas? Anyone know a part number so I can look on line?

Thanks in advance
DublinChris

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] - It was registered Jan 1998 so probably a 1997 build date. Xantia 1.9TD, series 2 Thanks. 213000 miles as of today

Ok, got it, it's the 4007 T7. That's great mileage too!

thanks for that information. I had actually come across those ones - the Mapco one seems closest but its £300+ which when converted to euro is still high despite Brexit!
With the correct part no I'll do some more searching

Before replacing the pump (the 6+2 is very reliable), have you checked the cleanliness of the LHM fluid and the reservoir filters? Might also be worth running your system on Hydraurincage for 3000 miles.

Thanks white exec - yes all done including having recently changed the reservoir. Car has 213,000 miles on original pump and I have been told the issue is down to "old age" - bit like me :rofl2:

I had Pleiades rebuild mine, great job and great service. They keep some on the shelf as exchange units.

Keep your eye on Ebay. Pumps crop up at cheaper than £300. You can buy a C5 for that! :-D

That sounds good probably going to be a silly question but how do I contact Pleiades?

Also! check the drive belt tightness - slippage here can cause it to be terrible at building pressure.
