I didn't find the ECU no, but I did see a junction on the passenger side. 3 wires in, two under the seats like you say, with another going to the set belt. Water damage seems feasible.

I'll check around the steering column next. Hopefully I can sort the blower motor controls while I'm there!

Temp is physically stuck on hot. My Synergie had this, I just pulled it in the right places near the bottom and it unjammed.

The fan speed control is a bit dicky too, but I suspect that's more electronic than a case of something being jammed.

What year divides later models and earlier models - would this have changed with the 1998 facelift?

Possibly because it's not there on my 97/98 806s

The manufacture date on various items used to put together my Citroen Evasion are around mid 1997 (however it is registered as a 1999).
I eventually found the airbag ecu on mine - it is under the passenger front seat (left seat). There is a small rectangle patch in the carpet with a screw holding it down (not that you can easily see the screw hole through the carpet!).

Underneath is the airbag ECU, nicely set into a hollow in the floor so that any water in the car gets into the hollow, fills the ecu box with water and causes all sorts of faults to show up on a scan!
After checking all the wiring and deciding that there was really nothing wrong with any of the items, I eventually got an ECU from a 306 to work, thus confirming that the fault was only with the original ECU.

Is there any way to repair/restore an airbag ecu that was working prior to getting water logged, but now throws various codes?
Can they just be dried out, or are there some joints that typically get faulty? Or does the water irrevocably damage some of the electronics?
Spraying with electrical cleaner and then with electrical spray did not resolve anything.
