Service on C5 X7

Hi All,

Just about to give the C5 a service with new filters and oil change.

Check over the brake pads etc.

Anything I should check and look out for.

Well started changing the filters and the plastic securing fixings which attach the fuel line to filter has shattered. The plastic was extremely brittle.

Can these be changed or is there a fix to keep the pipe attached to the fuel filter.

Advise please.

I would imagine if you've broken the pipe where it goes on the filter, then only a replacement will do (*) - post up the last 8 digits of the VIN and I'll find out the damage - do you know if it's the feed or supply to the pump?

* not to say that a bit of flexi hose and a couple of jubilee clips won't do as a temporary repair. You know, the sort that lasts 10 years or more!!

Depends what has broken...maybe one of the plastic spring clips ? I did that and used a zip tie for now..

It is the plastic spring clips and I've done a repair using zip ties.

The 'in', pipe runs from the primer bulb to the fuel filter housing, the pipe itself is fine it is the plastic spring clips which have gone.

The 'out' pipe could be replace with a proper fuel pipe and jubilee clip at the filter end but I don't know if this will work at the other end.

I've looked at service citroen and it appears to be the complete pipe from fuel tank to filter housing. No 1 on the diagram.

i think you have broken the same as me. I wondered if the clips could be fitted, I am not sure.. anyway, a very fine zip tie curled around the pipe (after the pipe has been fitted) seems to work fine.. mine still ok after 7 months
