Clutch maybe?

Post by Billathome65 »

Hi guys first time post. I just took my Renault Clio off the road to spend time diagnosing the reason for the electrical fault light coming on and uneven idling at that time. A common issue with the clio but a hard one to identify.

Anyhow to the point I just picked up a 2001 1.4 Citroen C3 SX it's just had a new coil pack timing belt and new valve rods due to damage from the broken belt.

The car runs good but the clutch is very high and I'm thinking the clutch needs replacing would you agree? As its a run around I want to kepep the costs down.

Cheers bill

One way to test it is to see if there is any slip when you floor it in a high gear. Alternatively, if it doesn't slip while trying to pull away in second, then I wouldn't worry about it just yet, a high clutch biting point doesn't mean the clutch needs replacing necessarily.

Cheers as I just got the car of the daughter and not driven it properly yet no tax and insurance till I change it over. I will give it a go as suggested I'm not aware though of the daughter mentioning any slip.

I would save your money for anything that may go wrong after you've got it on the road and leave the clutch until it shows signs of going.

Has it got any adjustment on it? If it's a cable you may have a manual adjuster or a stuck auto adjuster. Be a nice cheap fix then.
