IR remote plip - 1995 Xantia

Will I be able to simply swap my faulty 2 BUTTON remote locking chip with the 1 BUTTON I have found for sale. I realise that even if it's possible, the deadlocks will not work from the remote but I am not too worried about that.

Think the single button remotes are radio and not infrared, if so the answer has got to be no.

Dave, my problem is now sorted as I found a 2 button plip but the one button is still IR. It was fitted to the earliest 1993-1994 Xantias which did not have the alarm and the deadlocks - so no need for the two buttons.
