synergie air con/venterlation

Post by waveyr02 »

Hello All I have a year 2000 synergie hdi with digital air con the problem is it is totally uncontrollable, when you start up it comes on its own you can press the off button, sometimes it goes off others it just stay on then it will switch up and down on its own basicly all over the place. any ideas would be most welcome as its driving me mad.

Not had any problems with the 806/Synergie, but we used to get this with the BXs, it was the diode in the fan control that failed, I think these are mounted in the motor housing on the Synergie. The only other thing I can think would be the control unit itself, much eaiser to change that, so that wold be my starting place.

Thanks Ken ,bye control unit do you mean the controls themselves or is it a separate box hidden somewhere in the dashboard.

The control unit next to the gear stick. Do you have one?

As an aside, I honestly don't get the point of climate control. Other mod cons I approve of (cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic lights etc) but I don't see what's wrong with turning a dial when you want the car to get colder or hotter. I also like having a button to press to turn off the air con, but that's just me...

You can still turn the air con off with the button - it's not one or the other. Climate control just maintains the set temperature for you, but not only that, it prevents the misting of windows when running and ensures a constant temperature in the cabin, without having to keep turning the air con on and off and the blower up and down and adjusting the hot and cold - and getting groaned at from everyone. I have mine at between 18 and 21. I've read somewhere that 21 Centigrade is the ideal remperature in the car - but of course everyone is different. :-D

Not quite - but almost! £811.40 + VAT = £973.68! For a brand new one - if available (Part 6451 JG) that's if this is the 2 fan unit with automatic air conditioning.

New one out of the question (more expensive than the whole car value!), think I might have to hack it about a bit maybe a on /off switch in place of the main fuse just to switch it off.

If you wanna borrow this, send me £35 and I'll post it to you. If it solves the problem you've bought it, if it don't you can return it and I'll send you £30 back. Hows that?
