citroen dispatch ignition barrel swap??

Post by jambo1uk »

hi all my wifes van eventually passed its mot (had to bomb home and swap out the steering rack boot and a clip on the cv boot) yayyyyy

anyway in the spares van i have a ignition barrel that works with the key that now operates my wifes van doors (ignition is a seperate key) so can i swap this over or will there be problems with it being linked to ecu etc or is there something i can do to sort it as it would be nice to have a key that does the doors and ignition thanks in advance Jamie

If you can transfer the chip from your 'working' key to the 'replacement' key then fit the barrel it will be fine. I hope that makes sense.

The car does not care about the lock itself only that the chip in the key matches what it should.

If its a manual / solid key without easy access to the chip it may be more difficult.

Ensure that you do not damage the transponder aerial (the black 'ring' around the barrel) when swapping them over. :)
