Struggling to get hold of a 1.9 TD Xantia radiator?!

Post by red_dwarfers »

The radiator blew a hole yesterday on the way back home from Langport just outside of Taunton. Pulled up on the central reservation of the dual carriageway and helpfully, during the stop/start traffic, a couple of kind cars shouted out their windows "You wanting water mate?" And started throwing bottles of water at me.

Went onto the GSF website confidently thinking that I'll order it online and then pick it up in my local branch and they don't list any...rang up the local branch "Nah, we can't get hold of them, I'll ring around a few suppliers"...phoned back later "Nah sorry, *recommends a recore place in Yeovil*. Euro Car Parts and all the local ones are the same. Well, one says they list them but the supplier doesn't actually list stock so would be a case of ordering and hoping for the best.

Along with AEP their looks like there are a few on eBay. I'll go for this one I think as it looks about right.

My Xantia appears to have the later style metal/metal push connectors with a wire retaining clip, Citroen part number is 1301GL by the looks. Has anyone else had problems getting hold of Xantia rads?

Shame its not the same as the XM as I've one of those spare!

I have previously had success buying from car cooling.co.uk and mister-auto.co.uk, but don't know if they have yours in stock.

If you cant get a bayonet connector rad kev shout and i should be able to send you a normal top hose and bottom hose.. Slight faff to fit the bottom one but worth the conversion.. Im sure the bayonet rads are a lot more expensive then the earlyer standard ones..

Thanks all, I've gone for a brand new ebay one. A lot of the new ones on there appear to be the earlier (and cheaper!) type.

Thanks for the offers of bits, I'll see how I get on with removing the pipes off the old one and let you know if I need to convert to the older type.
