Just had a call about this subframe. It's still on the car and they're gunna have a look on Monday to make sure it's a gud-un.

Cheers ken fingers crossed. I'm in a similar situation I've found one on a car the guy is going to check to see if it's ok one of them has to be good. I'm driving my son's almera tino 1.8 at the moment 33mpg compared to 42 I was getting in the synergie running it flat out.

Bit of a dead end here I'm afraid, the car and subframe are still around, but the guy doesn't want to disable it yet by removing the subframe as they need to move it from time to time

ah ok mate no worries my guy will know in a day or so and i had another guy who will only take it off it i pay first so possibilities possibilities

heah guys good news the guy took the subframe off today and its mint ! not even any rust on it , so old faithful will be back on the road next week thanks to all you guys for the information and support much appreciated.

Great stuff. I love these cars having owned an 806, an ulysse, and an expert van. I would have another in a heartbeat!

yeah its a very reliable versatile and strong car and has served me well excellent 42mpg running it flat out in combined traffic doing 80-90. looking forward to taking it on the continent amsterdam camping holiday with the family and thinking of making a removable 2 seat camper with a bed memory foam mattress, storage under the sleeping area. camping sink and cooker. 95% tint on the back. i'd love to put proper hid lights on it if i could legally.

Just preping my 806 for the MOT this morning and guess what! the front subframe N/S is rotten

Looks like the Ulysse is going have to serve a bit longer

guys the mechanic couldn't get 5 bolts out of the subframe they are the 2 and 3 on the opposite ends. He's looking for an magnetic induction heater, does anybody have one, or are there any suggestions on how to get the long bolts out. thanks in advance.

Ken I'm sorry to hear that mate, i got a brilliant clean subframe original paint from birmingham scrappy 80 + 35 postage. Just waiting to put it on.

I've got a subframe lined up, hoping to pick it up next week. I am concerned about getting the bolts out too, we have air tools which makes the job easier and quicker but there's a lot of rust around down there.

Get hold of a couple of cans of Plus Gas, and get spraying. It is VERY good at helping release seized nuts and bolts. It has "Dismantling Fluid" printed on the can, and that is not wrong!

problem is mate those bolts are really long and seized internally into the chassis with the subframe on top, the stuff can't get that deep into it, the induction heater is a genius idea because it heats the bolt internally all the way down ...

Good news and bad news

good news is after 3 weeks of waiting the mechanic managed to get the induction heating tool and the bolts came out,
the bad news is the subframe doesn't fit ! the engine mountings are different !

so back to square one again !

In what way different? think there's only the bottom mount that fits on the subframe. Pics would be good as I'm still looking for one.
