Removing the original unit, buying the adaptor plate and wiring harness to fit a non-standard one, and the adaptor for the steering wheel controls if you want them to work. Plugging it all in and using it. It's about 20 mins of a job. .
Last time I bought one, the adaptor plate was about a fiver off eBay, the steering wheel control interface was about £13 and the wiring harness adaptor was about £8.

Re: Xantia Radio Upgrade
as Ben says
I think from memory. the choice of lead that connects the PSA car to an aftermarket stereo is dependant on the make of the stereo you want to fit.. If I still have mine they will connect Cit - Sony.. same for the wheel buttons (remote control) interface..
I doubt I have any blanky plates, but they are the cheaper bit..
I also have an interface that changes the CD stack into and auxiliary input .. not sure this would work for you but a handy feature for MP3, Dig Radio etc etc

Re: Xantia Radio Upgrade
If you want wheel controls to work you need the adaptor but they can be hit and miss, i think there were at least 2 different interfaces and neither are interchangeable!
Otherwise you only need to buy the surround to fit the radio into and a new radio. Double din won't fit so only single din. You can also get a flappy panel to cover them up like the mk2 had towards the end.
I ended up going the other way and fitting an original radio back in to use the cd changer!

Bad sound transfer via these.xantos wrote:How about something like this...

I just fitted a Sony Bluetooth unit, I think the Dash in the Xantia can take a "modern" unit without it looking out of place. Even better if you get the FlipOver cover slot.
I got the unit 2nd hand on ebay for about £25.00 as there was (poilished it out) a scratch on the face, + paid £9.99 for a microphone.
Bluetooth (talks to Phone via app), USB, Jack, CD changer port etc
