Xantia Suspension pipe no longer available, LDS union

Post by John Plum »

Suspension pipe no longer available: Although I have a citroen flare tool, I can't make this one up.

The part number , 5270 PL, HYDRAULIC TUBE LEFT DIAM 3,5
- lit goes from the left sphere to the anti-sink valve, and has an LDS style union on the sphere end, a normal LHM union on the anti-sink valve end; price listed is £9.00, but it is no longer available.

There's a kit to join a pre-made LDS union to LHM unions, at £30 a go. http://www.eurocarcare.net/hydraulics/e ... -rear.html.

This is an unpleasant complication.

What do you think should I do?

Cheers,
John

Ask Martin at Pleiades to make you one up ... easiest fix IMO.

The guy at Eurocarcare can make pipes with the LHM flare on one end, and the C5 flare on the other if you ask him.

CHeers guys, Oh well, I didnt know they could make one up at Eurocare - because they state on the link I gave above,

"THE VERY LAST OF THE XANTIA'S WERE EQUIPPED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE LDS STYLE UNIONS ENTERING THE RAM BODY AND NORMAL LHM UNION AT THE OTHER END. QUITE WHAT THE REASONING WAS BEHIND THIS WE HAVE NO IDEA, BUT ANYWAY, THE REPLACEMENT PIPES ARE NOW OUT OF PRODUCTION.
A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IS OUR HYBRID PIPE ADAPTOR. ORDER THIS ALONG WITH THE APPROPRIATE LENGTH OF 3.5mm HYDRAULIC PIPE TO MAKE UP A REPLACEMENT PIPE"

I've ordered a C5 rear 3.5mm pipe http://www.eurocarcare.net/hydraulics/e ... -rear.html from them for £12 (as opposed to the £30 for their kit) and will cut and join that to some 3.5mm with a union I've already got. Last time I spoke to Martin ( about a year ago), he said he didn't have the flare that goes into the pressure regulator because it was simply too expensive at about £3,000 , which I think is the LDS flare, is it not?

Ah, thank you kindly Kenny. They do tend to rust by the trailing arm though.. and it's not so bad - The C5 part is long enough to cut one end off and flare it for an LHM union, with out the need for joins! A little bit of bending, the shape is not so far out as to make it a trouble.

As for spares, I'd love a aircon pipe MKII Xantia
- compressor to joint under the top engine mount pipe
There is a joint just after the engine mount, so removal should be fairly easy.
