c5 X7 Climate control display problem...

Post by Lenny »

Hi all,

I've been to look at another C5 X7 and one of the little things that is wrong with it is a fault on the display for the climate control on the drivers side.
It's only got one pixel out (so if it was set at say 18 it would not show the bottom bit of the 8) but I know it would drive me potty if I bought the car.

Does anybody know what sort of job it would be to replace the display?

Is each side display separate or is it one big chunk? (it's the dual zone system)

Are the parts shared with other PSA cars and so available from a breakers?

Any advice gratefully received.

Lenny.

I believe the air con main unit is a one piece device ... you could attempt a repair, if you'd find another one like it, and try to disassemble it to pieces, and replace just the temperature screen from one to the other, but how the screen's are connected to the board, I don't know (soldered, zif-cable, ...)

I've just been on that Citroen Service site and you're absolutely correct that the LCD parts are part of a complete control panel.
Luckily a bit of Googling brings up a good few companies that can sort out such issues for £100 - £150.
Any idea if the complete unit will just unplug then plug back in with no issues or will I need to use Lexia for anything? (Not that I've got Lexia yet)

I don't think Lexia would be required in the case of the air con unit replacing (in case the 2nd unit is working as it should of course) it should just be plug&play (or plug&blow ... :D ) ...
