C5 LCD Screen wanted

Post by LD »

The LCD screen on my C5 has failed, and my mechanic has suggested that I look for a second-hand one; the implication is that a new one could be expensive. Citroen seem to have used a lot of different screens in various models of the C5, and I'm finding it difficult to locate the exact type.

Here are some of the numbers on the back of the screen, which may help identify it:

VDO Car Communication PT3

96 388 794 80 ---

22 SY 453/35

EMF D

9370 500 02112

Made by Philips in Hong Kong

The car registration number is GF51NNU; it's an HDi 2.2 auto hatchback Exclusive SE (2001)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks -

Does it look like this? This one is on sale in Croatia on one of the forums where I'm registered, the price is roughly 18 GBP ...

To SaabC5 – is the Spanish LCD screen still available? If so could you give me the link please?

Any idea what the price of a new unit would be?

Thanks for your help -

nothing on ebay chaps?

this is from a 2.2 and they have the whole car, could be worth a question to them as to the car spec?

although by the sounds of it, the exc SE first gen C5 is just too rare.. ;(

edit:
this is an exclusive SE breaking>?

Thanks jgra1 – I have emailed the seller in the second link; this appears to be identical with my model, so maybe the screen will be the right one.

I didn't set out to buy a “rare” model; I wanted the most advanced suspension, and the most comfy seats, as I suffer from back and related problems. My car came up with a full service history, from a garage within easy travelling distance, at a good price. It does exactly what I want, and at 117,000 miles I'm not surprised that a few things are going wrong. If it has to be a new screen so be it!

As it happens I do have a friend who speaks Polish! I'll try to contact her later today.

If it turns out that the Polish one is also sold, what numbers should I be searching on? My searches failed to find anything, but two members of this forum succeeded, so I need to improve my googling skills!

Thanks for continued help -

Well well - I've really learned something! I didn't realise that the part number was all I needed to enter, but it works beautifully. Doesn't that prove the power of numbers? Of all the things people could be searching for worldwide, that sequence of digits proves to be unique :)

To SaabC5 – That site is definitely Polish – my friend recognised some words and inflexions. I'll be seeing her tomorrow, then we can look a it on her husband's computer; fingers crossed that it doesn't sell meanwhile.

I'm not certain it is a touchscreen as such – may be just a display screen. I've always operated it by using the buttons and rotary control near the gearbox.

They aren't touch screen, just the earlier version of the RT3 Navidrive. These units have the Navigation DVD unit somewhere in the rear boot well IIRC.
