Stop and temp light

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Today, I had an interesting trip in the Xantia.

As the car was warming up, both the stop and temp light came on the temp on gauge was at max, but it went off after 10 seconds and settled down to run at normal operating temp.

Could the thermostat be sticking or is the temperature sender faulty after all the shenanigans with the coolant.

Easiest one first is coolant sensor, and the more likely culprit. Then the stat, which is a possible.

I haven't been in at mine yet on 110 hdi, but it is on that side of block around the battery area.
I put a new Calorstat in easy enough. I think those TCS are normally around a tenner.
The Vel Satis did the Stop and overheating thing about 8 months ago. You could see the temp gauge going up and down like a yoyo.
I bought both the TCS and the stat. It was the TCS. £8 for a Delphi one on Ebay.
