What is the purpose of spigot and hose appendix at the top of Intercooler?

its for the Pressure Sensor... The Pressure sensor that senses turbo pressure so the ECU knows when to open the wastegate.....

Managed to get some images up from google. That sensor sits limp in my battery tray. I seen it in there and didn't know what it was. Will need to investigate.

Does the tiny air spigot hose connect to the sensor then? I see no male spigot on those sensor pics? Need to check tomorrow. The sensor has the male and female plug connected IIRC, just not mounted on bracket.

Thanks all. I never saw a spigot on my sensor...........as it is sheared off
2 questions: What does that sensor do to the system/engine when not connected and operating. I have no warning lights.
Does any one have the part no.? It is the Denso sensor. VIN No. VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. I don't see it on Service Cit.

It is the MAP sensor.
I was told I needed a new one when the MAF failed - £40 at the time.
Turned out I didn't at all.

Not clued up to what it actually does but suspect it prevents overboosting.

I said I think above. It monitors the inlet pressure after the turbo so the ecu knows if its over boosting or not... the turbo will either not work.. or constanlty overboost putting the car into limp mode or just not boost efficiently..

Got to be ordered then. Proper Denso items on Ebay for £40.
In an old post, Wheeler said it is not a "true map sensor", but a boost pressure sensor.
