2.0 HDi (90)-Air Filter options (Xsara Picasso 2002)

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Following my dip into flood water, I have lost confidence in the standard air intake/filter arrangements on my Xsara Picasso. I'm sure the bottom tube which diisappears low down under the standard air filter box is still full of moisture, and ever will be given the regular deluges we get these days.

Easy solution stay out of floods/large puddles I know, but is there a cheap and cheerful option of a "cone"/ mesh filter just simply attached to the air flow sensor, high up at the top of the engine?

Now this is £8.95 which comes in the cheap and cheerful bracket, but is it all that's needed?

This isn't cheap at £139, or cheerful, looks like you are paying a futher £130 for a bit of rubber tube and some clips :o

Any guidance gratefully received.

It's all about the microns it filters to and the resistance to airflow. Try to get the specs, as long as the cheap one equals or betters the standard one it is acceptable. I'm sure you can get a bent tube and 2 clips for under £130.

I would suggest that you keep the original filter and box, but find a way to get the air intake higher.

The second one ins A K&N reusable filter with their marketing phrase "K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty"

I'll have a paddle around and see if I can find the specs.
