C5 display illumination

Post by bamba »

As above , 2002 C5 , the center display illumination no longer works , the one with radio and trip / mpg information. Lcd is ok , just cant see it at night. Are the bulbs replaceable is a similar way the picasso can ? Thanks in advance

I think it probably has replaceable bulbs, the temp/computer display certainly does - in an 01 model anyway.

Yes, they are replaceable.
Use a thin, blunt spatulate tool to spring the bezel free and under that are a couple of screws to release the display.
I can't remember what the bulbs were but Halfords stock them (at a price)! but if you can identify them they are less expensive on eBay.

Biggest problem that I encountered was the Traffic Master LED, very short lead on it. I just cut it off as it is redundant anyway.

Somewhere  I have photo's of the job.
Not in my Photobucket, Imageshack, Google, Flickr! or Imgur accounts and not on any of the drives I have looked in - I'll find it when looking for something else, no doubt.

I've done this job years ago but never documented it, but until Myglaren digs up the pics from the archives look at the link here for another doing the same job and at the bottom of the page there are 3 photos 8-)
