Citroen AX blower conversion

Post by jsp »

Hi, I have a Citroen AX spare blower that only works on full speed.

I have copied this picture as I have seen that a Xantia blower resistance easier to fix and cheaper.

I have wired a bit up but, don't exactly know which wire is speed 1 and 2

where does these pins/wires do and go?

Many thanks.

Does your AX have climate control? The Xantia part you have shown is controlled by the climate control ECU, and will not easily work if yours is a simple system with 2 or 3 fixed speeds.

Simple resistor controlled systems, such as used on non-AC Xantia, (and probably the AX) always had the resistor mounted in the airflow of the ventilator box, to keep them cool.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The blower came from a Saxo with airco but, the resistance blew up.

It's a small white block mounted on the blower itself.

Does the car which is being repaired have an ECU controlling the blower, or just a manual switch?

sorry for the late reply, it's a manual switch.

The obvious answer is to get a resistor pack from a car with simple switched fan. In theory you could arrange a chain of small resistors to drive the electronic fan controller that you have acquired, but you would need to experiment to find the right values.
