Just keep it below 60 and potter on then. That will buy you time to get other stuff sorted and then come back to your limp mode issue.

Without a Lexia you will / we will just be guessing all the time.............if your going to stick with this car you need a readout or drop £150 and get a Lexia.

Do not start on anything connected with the electric with an unknown battery in the car (even if it does start)....again that will just mess up everything.

Look at getting battery tested, a poor battery can cause all sorts of electrical problems.

The C series of Citroen cars are very sensitive to failing batteries, as they have a lot of electronics. There have been numerous occasions when a new battery has resolved strange, seemingly unrelated problems.

Just back to the sluggishness below 2250rpm for a mo' - Did you checked the condition of the MAF at all? It's easy to get to, it might be worth taking ten minutes to spray it clean (carb cleaner etc). It's an issue that sometimes comes up with K&N etc oiled filters, some of the oil gets onto the sensors, which they don't seem to like much. Worth taking another look at the filter too.
(If you do this be very, very careful not to actually touch the sensors, they're sensitive and brittle)
