Would that do to order?

Garage quoted 5hrs labour more less.
When they do the timing belt they will have a closer look of the suspension pump as well.
That is the correct timing kit, but if your engine still has the original style timing belt tensioner, then the later (better) tensioner illustrated in that kit will not fit unless the water pump is changed for the later style (or modified).

If ordering a water pump do not order the original type for the car (as it will also not fit), but order one for a 2000 year Xantia.

The earlier pump can be made to fit with the new style tensioner by cutting the ear off the pump with a hacksaw (but your garage might not be too keen on that operation).

5 hours is a reasonable time for someone who knows what they are doing with the right tools. My first took 10 hours, and I have done one in less than 4 hours.

Well ... I am going according that the timing belt has never been changed on this car...
therefore I assume it has all the original bits...
So to understand for this kit to fit properly it needs a 2000 style waterpump eitherwise it will not fit?
edit... I just noticed the kit does not include the waterpump

Will that do me?

You'll need to cut off the big hole on the right to fit with the new tensioner...

That is the original style pump that needs the lug cut off. They are now cheaper than the later style, because few people buy them and there are a lot of old-stock ones floating around.

That looks like the right one. No modifications should be needed.

OK so the car should be back today... from the cambelt...

Now regarding the second LHM leak from the pump.... it appears to be from the pulley?.... can this pump be fixed? or do I need to start looking for a replacement one? :( ...
They haven't taken the pump out but they had shown me it is all freshly wet around the shaft...

Is it safe to be driven like this until it is fixed... ?

It depends how much LHM it is losing. A few drops should not be a problem.

The pump can probably be reconditioned.

well as you can understand it loses when it is driven... rather than stationary.
When I drove for almost 300 miles the other day. It lost that much I did not even need to top it up.

Leaking HP pumps will kipper the alternator quite quickly as it (normally) drips down on it.

I have a "spare" referb one just about to come back to me for fitting to my Activa.....we could maybe work something out if your needs are urgent.
(I have PM'd you my phone number)

Get in touch with Martin at Pleiades for reconditioning and advice... He's done an excellent job on a few V6 pumps for me over the years..

Leaking from the shaft is quite unusual in my experience...

Yes indeed although if you get them off and give them a good clean with gentle electronics solvent and compressed air they survive..

I've treated several very wet ones now and they are still good...

The secret is to remove them though...

I got the car back from the garage and the engine is so quiet now !!! :) smooth and perfect gear changes :) (well it had that before) .But now the whole thing clicks good in place :)
The mechanic who took it out for a spin after the work was done to test drive. Did say he has never come across to a Citroen that smooth and quiet engine and so smooth gear changes before. He was really surpised :)

I have noticed that when revved (stationary and in P) to 4000 rpm the engine will vibrate like something is out of balance?... the vibration does not happen above those revs or below those revs...
could that be the shaft of the LHM pump?...

Check the top donut engine mount and the rubbers on the stabiliser bar nearby, if these rubbers tear (and they do) any slight movement in the engine can be amplified.

It is possible that you have a misfire due to a faulty spark plug or lead, but that would normally be more evident under load.
